He then told her, "From now on, you can expect that I'm going to show up. Even if I yell, even if you yell, I'm always gonna show up. Okay?" Okay.S.H.

As for why he didn't tell her about the shooting? "How am I supposed to call you up and tell you that I've been shot? I can't tell you about my pain. I don't want you to know that pain exists." In Derek's final hour, he once again proved that he was both a hero and a romantic—and, as always, so very dreamy. After one of the car accident victims told Derek that she was going to die, he responded in the most reassuring—and badass—way possible: "Stop saying that. It's insulting. I don't let people die." Then, just as his young patient started to talk about her crappy first kiss, he snapped into full McDreamy mode, telling her that "every kiss before the right kiss doesn't count anyway." He then told the group about his first kiss with Meredith. You know, because he couldn't get any dreamier. S.H.
